What are Essential Oils?

They are the most powerful part of the plant. They are distilled from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, fruit, rinds, resins, and herbs.

In humans, they provide support for every system in the body; your skeletal system, your muscular system, circulatory system, endocrine system and your hormones, respiratory system, and immune system. They support brain health and healthy weight. They are used extensively for emotions and for spiritual support in your prayer life. An oil in a diffuser can soothe a child’s tough day at school and provide a calming effect when you’ve had a stressful day at work. Oils can be used as an alternative to toxic cleaning chemicals in the home. You can literally start swapping out every single chemical cleaning toxin in your home to live a purer lifestyle, and you can do it without breaking the bank, and saving loads of money.

Essential oils are typically used 3 ways:

  1. Topically

  2. Aromatically

  3. Ingestion



Oils are found working in your bloodstream within 26 seconds after being applied topically. And this is simply done by applying the oils to your skin. The bottom of your feet and any other soft skin on your body are great places to apply oils to be absorbed best. Some fav places to apply oils are: feet, spine, chest, wrists and forearms, abdomen, and behind ears. Just think naturally, where do I need this oil? If you have discomfort in your back, apply Panaway directly to the area needed. Tummy issues? Apply DiGize directly to the tummy. The chest and forearms/hands are great places to apply for calming. When my kids are having a “high emotions” moment, I like to apply oils to their chest and back of neck. Adults can use most oils directly from the bottle (you should typically dilute with a carrier oil for children), but making a roller is a great way to stretch your oils and keep them in your purse and on the go. Since the key is consistency, keep them with you!


When inhaled, oil molecules reach your brain, heart, liver, and thyroid in 3 seconds. This is impressive! But also not surprising when you think about how quickly a smell can change your mood. Our bodies react to not only smell, but what we breathe in very quickly. So where it’s something good like essential oils, or bad like chemicals. Your body is changed by it. So think twice about what you are inhaling friends. Ways to inhale oils:

  1. diffuser

  2. in palms and cupped over nose

  3. breathing them in over a pot of warm water with oils added



Young Living has a line of oils labeled Vitality. This means they are safe for ingestion, and so beneficial. Ways to use internally:

  1. a drop directly in mouth

  2. cooking with oils

  3. in a beverage

  4. in a capsule
